Ukweli compared to the tools you already use

The tools below ask was this machine-written, and was it copied? Ukweli asks a different question: is what it says true, precise, and defensible — before it carries your name?

Each comparison describes what the vendor publishes about its own product, and concedes the overlap where there is one. Where we could not confirm something, it is not claimed.

Ukweli vs Turnitin

Turnitin asks where a document came from — whether it was copied, and how much of it reads as AI-written. Ukweli asks whether what it says is true: precise, sourced, and defensible, before you publish it.

Ukweli vs GPTZero

GPTZero detects AI-written text and, with its hallucination check, verifies whether the sources a document cites actually exist. That second part is a real overlap with us. The difference is where it stops: GPTZero says its tool does not judge whether the claims themselves are true or false. Ukweli does — it checks whether the source supports the claim attached to it, reconciles the figures, and returns one verdict with the evidence.

Ukweli vs Copyleaks

Copyleaks detects AI-generated and copied text across many languages. Ukweli is not a detector — it verifies whether what the document asserts is actually true and supportable, then returns one verdict with the evidence.

Ukweli vs Originality.ai

This is the closest overlap. Alongside AI and plagiarism detection, Originality.ai also includes an AI fact-checker. The difference is depth: its own guidance presents it as a “fact checking aid” and tells you not to treat it as the final word. Ukweli reads the whole document across up to eight integrity checks — claim precision, figure reconciliation, citations verified live against the public record, sensitivity — and returns one verdict with the evidence and a statement of what was and was not checked.

Last checked against each vendor’s own site: 5 August 2026. We re-check quarterly; the next review is due 5 November 2026. Product claims change, and a comparison page that is not re-read goes wrong quietly.

These comparisons describe what each vendor publishes about its own product. If you work on one of these tools and we have described it wrongly, tell us and we will correct it and re-date this page. Tell us what we got wrong.

Whichever tool you have in mind, Ukweli is a pre-publication screen, not a guarantee, and not a substitute for legal, financial, or regulatory sign-off.
