Ukweli folios are dated reads. Some come from Integrity Watch, our public register of documents that were corrected, withdrawn, refunded or sanctioned over fabricated citations, sources or quotes. Others, such as the local elections reads, test a set of documents against the record.
Each folio is dated, and its figures are frozen at the day it was published.
Ukweli read the ten 2026 local government manifestos against the Constitution’s lists of what a council does, with a table of powers built from 25 national laws. Of 1,378 promises about council business, nearly a third are outside a council’s listed functions or led by another sphere.
