What was fabricated

Chairman Grassley's letter of 6 October 2025 records that the order contained "serious inaccuracies, including: (1) naming plaintiffs and defendants that are not parties in this case; (2) misquoting the statutory text; (3) making factually inaccurate statements that are not supported by the record; and (4) referencing declarations of four individuals who do not appear anywhere in this case".

What happened as a result

The docket entry for the 20 July 2025 order carries its own correction: "Main Document 51 replaced on 7/23/2025." Judge Wingate wrote to the Director of the Administrative Office of the United States Courts on 21 October 2025, answering questions put by Senator Grassley on 6 October; the Senate Judiciary Committee published the reply on 23 October 2025, in which he records that "the original July 20, 2025, Order had been removed and was replaced on July 23, 2025".
