48 judgments of the Spanish Supreme Court, cited with judgment numbers, dates and identifiers, none of which exist, plus one non-existent report of the Consejo General del Poder Judicial. The court's own documentary specialist verified the citations and confirmed they did not exist.

What happened as a result

€420 fine imposed on the lawyer by resolution of the Sala de lo Penal dated 10 February 2026. The CGPJ records that when confronted the lawyer admitted the facts and expressed remorse. The court's stated basis: he “se valió de una herramienta de Inteligencia Artificial ‘generalista’” and “no contrastó que los números de sentencia, las fechas y los identificadores existieran efectivamente” — he did not cross-check the AI tool's output against jurisprudence databases, “lo que le hubiera puesto sobre aviso”.
